Brand Information
The origins of Talasey Ltd are founded in the history of its leading product brand, Natural Paving, which was established in 2004. Natural Paving (UK) Ltd became established after identifying a gap in the market for high quality, ethically sourced natural stone to the domestic landscaping market. Taking an early lead in this field the company quickly began supplying to Builders Merchants and Contractors UK wide.
Natural Paving's commitment to excellent quality and customer service has led to Natural Paving's current ranking as the number one independent supplier of natural stone to the UK landscaping industry, with full UK coverage, activities in Europe and a sister company in America, Natural Paving USA.
As Natural Paving grew, new product brands evolved with Pavetuf (2013), Vitripiazza (2014), Baksteen (2015), Luxigraze (2017) and Resiscape (2017). With such a diverse range of landscaping products Natural Paving was no longer the right 'umbrella' brand to encompass such an impressive array product brands and so the Talasey Ltd came into effect in 2017, as distributors of all the afore mentioned product brands, truly 'changing our landscape'
CE Marking and Declarations of Performance
Following an extensive and rigorous testing process in 2013, the complete Natural Paving range of flagstones, block paving, walling and accessories is fully accredited with CE Marking and come with official Declarations of Performance (DOPs). The tests were completed as part of the transition to the new Construction Products Regulation (CPR), which came into force on 1st July 2013 and requires that all products covered by a Harmonised European Standard (hEN) or European Technical Assessment (ETA) carry CE Marking to state their performance characteristics.
Material Information
Limestone Description:
Limestone is a sedimentary rock that is formed over millions of years through the accumulation and compaction of organic materials, such as shells and coral, and inorganic materials, such as sand and mud. The resulting rock is composed primarily of calcium carbonate, which gives limestone its characteristic and unique colours, texture and natural beauty. Natural limestone paving has a lightly textured feel and a gently undulating surface, but with a less riven texture than that found in sandstone. It may also have secondary finishes to provide an alternative surface texture.
It is available in a selection of finishes:
Natural riven finish - with this standard finish, the stone has been handsplit across its natural seams and offers a naturally slightly uneven surface with occasional dips and raised sections. It has an orange peel like texture and a gently pitted appearance. It usually has hand-chipped edges.
Antique or tumbled finish - this limestone paving has been tumbled in a large machine that vibrates the stones together to create a timeworn appearance to the surface and edges to make the stone appear older than it actually is. Ideal for older style homes or where a slightly softer appearance is required.
Sawn finish - the surface of this stone has been sawn flat and then usually secondary processed with a slip-resistant, sand-blasted surface and sawn edges. It is often produced in a calibrated thickness where the variation in thickness of the slab is kept to a minimum to aid the laying process.
Brushed finish - during the finishing process, a wire brush is used to scrape the surface of the limestone, creating a rough, textured finish that resembles the natural texture of the stone. The finish not only enhances the appearance of the stone but also provides a slip-resistant surface
Flamed finish - the surface of this limestone is heated intensely with a flame and then rapidly cooled with water. This process causes the surface of the stone to flake and the softer minerals are burnt away to create a soft textured, non-slip surface.
The details of the finish with each product is provided in the Product Description.
Limestone Colours:
Limestone is offered in a selection of colour choices:
Beige & pearl colours - Egyptian limestone features warm beige and soft cream tones, with subtle honey and ivory variations. Natural fossil markings and gentle veining add texture and character. This paving is nearly always flat surfaced and may be acid washed to bring out the natural colours and create a skip resistant texture.
Golden colours - With its golden buttermilk tones mixed with dove grey shades, this limestone colour brings a touch of warmth and sophistication to any outdoor space. This honey (often called yellow) shade of limestone will exhibit occasional ochre tones and when tumbled, shows more grey and beige colours and less of the creamy yellow tones than when left with a natural hand split finish.
Cool grey colours - A calming and understated hue, this limestone colour provides a modern and minimalist look that is both timeless and versatile. As with the golden coloured limestone, it's possible to see occasional ochre tones.
Soft blue-grey colours - This subtle and soothing limestone colour is perfect for creating a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere in any outdoor setting. As with other limestone paving options, ochre shades may also be seen on occasion.
Deep charcoal colours - This dramatic and bold limestone colour creates a striking contrast against surrounding landscaping, providing a stunning visual impact. The darker black shades will gradually lighten with weathering, however sealing the paving will help retain the dark colouration for longer. Other minerals may appear within the stone such as white quartzite veining and iron oxide.
Natural Stone Characteristics:
All natural stone products are unique and will vary in colour and texture, often showing distinctive markings, minor imperfections and may include mineral deposits such as iron and quartzite. Sizes are nominal and may vary and there may be dimensional tolerances affecting size and thickness in accordance with British Standards. Some paving manufacturers include the pointing allowance in the individual slab sizes whereas others include the pointing allowance in the overall pack coverage. The product images shown are as accurate as photographic processes allow and may appear differently in accordance with lighting conditions and screen calibration in addition to the natural variation occurring between batches. Images may not be a true representation of a particular product size, use or laying pattern. Descriptions provided offer a combination of the manufacturer's and our own opinion of the product's characteristics and features.
There are many types of natural stone available, so it is important to choose the right natural stone for you.
All products from Talasey are CE marked to ensure they meet with strict EU regulations that were introduced in 2013. European standards EN1341 (flagstones), EN1342 (pavers) and EN1343 (kerbs) specify the requirements and test methods for each of these. The CE testing covers areas including water absorbency, flexural strength and freeze/thaw resistance.
All natural stone products have been tested to show the various properties of each stone and how it is likely to react under different circumstances.
